Efrain Herrera

Introduction

Efrain Herrera is a muralist and an actor born in veracruz,mexico in 1981 and based in philadelphia,pennsylvania,usa.Since his childhood he was seen with especial drawing skills.It was not until the age of 15 years old when he felt the curiosity about art and painting,taking some brushes,acrylic paint and any other object that could be used as canvas,discovering the feeling of been artistic,happy and creative.
His art education was mostly self-taught,because he didn't have the facility to go to art school and learn everything it can provide.even then he dominated charcoal,watercolor,oil,pastel,sculpture and some other media.
He says the practice is the best school.Since the age of 17 he has changed his passion from canvas painting to mural art,he felt the need to express himself shaping ideas on walls,letting even the poorest people admire the beauty of visual art and it's message not necesary attending to fancy and unreachable galleries or museums.
He painted his first murals in some schools of the city of veracruz,since then he still impressing the eyes of everyone with his painting skills and artwork.
In 2001 he moved to philadelphia to get knowledge about mural painting and new techniques,collaborating with other artist helping to create the biggest murals and landmarks of some cities around the united states.
He especializes in big scale photorealistic portraits and figures including any kind of people,landscapes,animals,architecture,fantasy etc.
In the year of 2011 he had the chance to cast in his first acting job,featuring in couple local short films,skits and mural art documentaries.
In 2012 after an intense audition for the feature film "dragon sushi"(movie in progress) he won the role as a main character playing a centroamerican inmigrant that struggles with his adaptation with the american life style.Along the way he has getting experience working next to great actors like Kenneth john McGregor(usa) and manuela martelli(chile).
In 2013 he cast in the independent movie "possession" as a hitman of the latino cartel.

I create fresh, vibrant images that capture the essence of my subjects, from portraits and landscapes to still lifes and abstracts.
